New style Papercut embedded software, this is only available on the Olivetti, Develop & Konica Minolta colour MFDs running i-Option. If the machine doesn’t have the i-Option installed then you get the old interface.

This is relevant to Olivetti MF222plus, MF282Plus, MF362Plus, MF452Plus, MF552Plus, MF652Plus & MF752Plus. Please contact Elmdale Maintenance to find out more about Papercut and how it can help your organisation.

Setting Up Scan To Folder (SMB) on Olivetti MF222Plus Colour MFD

Setting up scanning to a folder is quite a straight forward process on an Olivetti MF222Plus.

First thing you need to do is create a folder on your computer or server. Then share it, the easiest way to share a folder in windows is to right click on the folder then select properties.

folder properties

Next select sharing and go to  advanced sharing (1) then check the box to share the folder (2) you can change the share name if need be, next set the permissions of the folder you are sharing (3)

share

Set the folder permissions to specific people or set to everyone full control, this allows the machine to deliver the scanned doc in to the folder. If it isn’t shared then the machine can not scan back to the computer.

permissions

The next thing you will need to do is get the hostname of the computer you are scanning back to, this is quite straight forward to do, you can obtain it by first holding down the windows key on your keyboard then hitting the R on your keyboard.

run command

This will bring up the run box, next type cmd and click ok to bring up the windows command prompt. Then type hostname in the command prompt window and press enter on your keyboard, you will then see the hostname of your computer. As you can see in the example below it is PC9.

cmd prompt

Once we have the hostname and a folder set up the next step is to open up the web interface of the Olivetti MF222Plus. This is done by typing http://IPADDRESSOFTHEMACHINE (i.e. 192.168.1.150) in the address bar of your web browser.

(You can find out the IP address of your machine either from the port settings on your print driver or by printing out the configuration page at the machine in user settings.)

Next go to the Store Address tab of the MFD’s web page.

store address

Then click on New Registration in the Address Book List.

new registration

Next fill in the fields like below,

address book entry

1. The name that will be displayed on the machines display

2. Check the main box and the area of the address book that it will reside.

3. Check the box for the hostname.

4. Add the hostname (e.g. PC9) that you got from the command prompt, then the share name of the folder you set up, then a valid windows user name and password that has access to the computer you are scanning back to.

5. Then click OK to store the details.

You should get the message below if it has been set up on the machine.

You can set up more scan folders by clicking Continue Registration or just click return or close the web browser.

address book complete

You should now be able to scan back to your PC or server, if it fails for any reason and you require assistance then contact Elmdale Maintenance on 0118 982 1445.

This process can be used on all Olivetti, Konica Minolta, Develop colour MFD’s such as Bizhub C224e, 284e, 364e, 454e, 554e or Olivetti MF282Plus, MF362Plus, MF452Plus, MF552Plus, MF652, MF752 or Develop Ineo+ 224e, Ineo+ 284e,Ineo+ 364e,Ineo+ 454e,Ineo+ 554e

Setting Up Account Track On An Olivetti Colour MFD

Quick guide on setting up Account Track on an Olivetti colour MFD, this will apply to the MF222, MF282 range including the plus models upto the MF752 and can be applied to most of the older models as well.

Firstly you will need to turn on Account Track on your machine, this can be done via the machines web interface. You will need the IP address of the machine, this can be found by printing out the configuration page from the machine, this can printed out by pressing menu – utility – user settings – printer settings – print reports – configuration page, then the start key once it has lit up blue.

Once you have the IP address the you will need to type into the address line in your web browser of choice. Once the web page has loaded then please log out as a public user and then log in as an Administrator.

admin password

Once you’re logged in then go to the User Authentication/Account Track section.

account track

Next turn on Account Track and set to Password Only then click OK.

turn on account track

Next click on Account Track Settings, New Registration to add a new user.

account registration

Next add the new user details and set their password, it can be numerical or alphanumeric a minimum of 2 characters. We usually recommend using a 4 digit numerical code as this is easy to enter on the screen of the MFD when logging in.

add password

You can also set the permissions for each user and set a limit to how many prints they can do before the machine stops them from printing. If you choose not to edit the functions then the machine will just record how many copies and prints that each user has done.

Once you have finished setting up the new user you click register then you can set up more users in the same way.

Next you need to set up the print driver for the machine, there are 3 ways of doing this.

1. Having a pop up dialog box appear every time a user prints asking for their account track number.

2. Embedding the users ID code in to the driver on each persons computer in their default print preferences.

3. Print without authentication, where you tell the machine to bill all the jobs to the Public account.

I’ve uploaded a video showing you how to do this below:

How To Add A 64bit Additional Driver To Windows Server 2003

I have noticed that sometimes when you try to add a 64bit additional driver on a windows 2003 server you get an error. It asks for a 64bit ntprint.inf file which most of the time isn’t available. You will get an error that looks something like this:

sbs2003 64bit driver error

The best work around I have come up with is to first load the driver locally on a 64bit machine

add printer

Once you have loaded the driver locally then run the add printer wizard again and select  “the printer that I want isn’t listed”.

printer not listed

Next browse the network for the printer installed on the server and add it to your 64bit client machine, it will load as the 64bit files have been loaded already.

The next part you will need to have Administrator privileges, which can be set from the driver on the server or you can input the password if you are asked for it.

Next go to the properties of the driver loaded from the server and then to sharing. Then click on load additional drivers.

additional drivers

Next check the box for 64bit driver and click on ok.

check 64bit

this will then load the 64bit driver files to the driver on the server. You can check this by logging on to the server and checking the additional drivers.

log back in to the sbs2003 and check 64bit driver added

That’s it your done, hope you found this helpful.
